In 1973, the AMS created Canada's first all-access post-secondary transit pass. After 45 years of serving Queen's, our student-tailored transit plan remains among the most competitive in the country.
The Bus-It program provides full-time students with unlimited access to Kingston Transit bus services for a full 12-months period, from September to the following summer. In addition to the providing universal student access to the many regular Kingston Transit buses that run through campus and the city, the AMS has purchased several "Q" buses that are designed to meet students' transportation needs.
If you are a full-time student and have paid your full slate of student fees, then you are eligible to ride any bus in Kingston with the presentation of a validated student card. If you are a part-time student, you may opt-in to the AMS's student activity fees, and will be partake in the Bus-It program once your student card is validated To find out more about validating your student card, please go to the Registrar Office’s student card webpage. |

Changes to the Q20
NORTH-SOUTH STOPS THROUGHOUT
THE UNIVERSITY DISTRICT
THE UNIVERSITY DISTRICT
We are thrilled to announce that we now have North-South bus stops throughout the University District! When using the Q17, student passengers can now jump on a bus at Alfred & Princess/Brock/Johnson, and can ride to campus. Once on campus, the Q17 will reach as far west as Vic Hall, and as far east as Bio Sci. Certain routes will loop even farther downtown!
With the rerouting of the Q20 bus, students can travel from West Campus to the top of University & Princess, or can even bus as far west as Nelson & Princess. Students living in the northwest end of the University District will be able to bus from Nelson & Princess and get off at Stauffer in minutes. Stops will be made at University & Brock/Johnson along the way. The Q20 will run on a 15-minute loop, and its service will be replaced by the Q17 at night. |
The Q17's late-night service now runs on a frequency of 15 minutes between Main and West Campus, with 30 minute service to An Clachlan, Downtown, and Princess and Albert. Whether you're catching a bus back to West Campus after a long study session at Stauffer, or you're trying to get to your Princess St. apartment, you'll have a safe and convenient way home.

INCREASED LATE-NIGHT SERVICE
Late-night, 15-minute Q17 service. An extra Q17 bus fully replaces and covers the Q20's daytime routes, as well.
Our Bus-It Fee of $90 is the cheapest of all student transit plans in Ontario. Queen's students benefit from a comprehensive student-tailoured service, while getting to keep year-round, 12-month access.
To put things into perspective, a 12-months of non-student bus passes with Kingston Transit costs 678. This means that Queen's students get an ~87% discount on their transit passes. |
** All figures are updated to the 2017-18 academic year. The $90 AMS's Bus-It Fee, however, represents the total for the 2018-19 academic year, and beyond.
OUR MISSIONProvide students with a convenient, safe, and affordable method of navigating Kingston |
Step #1Pay Student
Activity Fee If you pay your full slate of student activity fees, then you will become eligible for all AMS services, including Bus-It. If you are in over three courses per semester, you will automatically have paid your full slate of student fees.
|
Step #2Update Student Card Sticker
In early-September, you must visit Wallace Hall to get an updated, coloured sticker for the current academic year. Your current year's sticker colour will prove that you have paid your student fees for that year, and are thus eligible for Bus-It services.
|
Step #3Ride any Kingston Transit Bus
You may now ride any public transit bus in Kingston. Simply present your student card (with the correct, updated sticker) to the bus operator in order to be admitted onto the bus.
